There is no shortage of operators offering Kenya safaris. What is harder to find is a team that genuinely knows the ground — the lodges, the routes, the seasons, and the moments that turn a good journey into one you spend years trying to describe.
Start Planning Your Safari →We have been guiding Kenya's national parks and reserves for over thirty years. Here is what that means for you.
Anyone can put together a list of parks and lodges. The harder work is knowing which itinerary looks good on paper but feels exhausting on the ground, which lodge deserves the extra night, which route makes sense in July but not in November, and where a small adjustment will change everything about the experience.
That judgement comes from being in the field — consistently, for a long time. It is not something that can be sourced from a brochure or replicated by an overseas agent working from a price list.
Our guiding team has operated across every major ecosystem in Kenya — the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu, Laikipia, Tsavo East and West, Lake Nakuru, the Kenyan coast — and into Tanzania across Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti.
We know how these destinations feel beyond the photographs. We know which camps are genuinely intimate and which ones only photograph that way. We know when the famous locations come with more crowds than they are worth, and which routes look simple on a map but feel very different in the field. We go back, repeatedly, so that what we recommend is current — not assembled from memory.

Our own fleet, our own guides. The vehicle you travel in is not subcontracted on the morning you land.
Inside Kenya Safaris holds standard trade operator rates with four of East Africa's major lodge groups — Serena Hotels, Sarova Hotels, Sopa Lodges and Sentrim Hotels — alongside a curated range of independent boutique properties across every destination we operate.
These rates are negotiated directly with properties on the ground. Booking through an overseas agency adds a layer between you and the operator, and that layer costs money. Booking directly with a Kenyan operator removes it, without any compromise on the quality of advice or the service you receive.
Every itinerary is planned from scratch around the specific group travelling. We want to understand how you like to travel — the pace that feels right, what genuinely interests you, who needs a little more space, who will happily be up before sunrise, what is worth spending more on and what you would skip without a second thought.
Then we shape the journey around those details, so the finished itinerary feels unmistakably yours. You will never be handed an itinerary written for someone else.
There is no moment where you are passed from a sales consultant to a separate operations team to a guide you have never spoken to. The team that plans your itinerary is the team that meets you at the airport and leads every drive.
That continuity matters. It means everything discussed during planning — your preferences, your group's needs, the specific moments you are hoping for — travels with the guide into the field. Not in a briefing document. In the head of the person who was there for every conversation.
The same people from first enquiry to final airstrip.
Breakfast on the bonnet, somewhere it makes sense to stop. The unscheduled parts are usually the ones guests describe afterwards.
Every safari we operate includes emergency air evacuation cover with African Air Rescue / Flying Doctors Medical Services, at no additional cost. If something goes wrong in the field, the cover to get you to a hospital is already in place before you land.
We include it as standard because we do not believe it should be a question guests have to remember to ask.
A Kenya safari can involve road transfers, bush airstrips, border crossings, multi-destination routing, and seasonal variations that shift the optimal order of a journey. We fit those pieces around the experience rather than allowing the logistics to dictate it.
Every park entry fee, conservancy pass, inter-destination transfer and accommodation arrangement is organised before you travel. You arrive in Kenya with nothing left to arrange, and nothing to manage while you are there.
Every booking made with Inside Kenya Safaris supports the guides, drivers, lodge staff and community programmes that depend on the industry to function. We are a Kenyan operator, based in Nairobi, and the economic benefit of every journey we run stays in the country.
We also operate the Friends of Iturisho School Safari — an itinerary that combines a full wildlife programme with a visit to Iturisho Primary School on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The school receives ongoing support from partner institutions in the United States, and every departure contributes directly to the community that stewards one of Kenya's greatest wildlife landscapes.
We believe a safari that supports the people of a place is a better safari.
