The 10-Day Enchanting Safari Itinerary

Upon arrival at JKIA Nairobi airport, you will be met and transferred to Hilton Garden Inn, Nairobi where you are booked for 1 night on bed & breakfast basis.

Depart from your hotel at 7.30am and drive west of Nairobi city, enjoy the scenic views of the great Rift Valley as you drive down the Mai Mahiu escarpment past the old Catholic Chapel built by Italian prisoners of war in 1942. Continue west through Kenya’s breadbasket seeing endless wheat & maize farms as you come to Narok town. Drive on into Maasailand enjoying these scenic landscapes in this part of the Rift Valley, before arriving at your camp in time for lunch & check-in. You’ll be booked here on a full board basis.

Afternoon game viewing drive within the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

The Masai Mara Game Reserve: besides being one of the eight wonders of the world, is home to the Big Five and also a great world attraction of the annual wildebeest migration that takes place between the months of July through October when an estimated two million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebra and numerous gazelles cross into the Masai Mara from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, in search of pasture. It is a spectacle to behold watching these herds of wildebeests and zebra crossing through the crocodile infested Mara River as they make their way to the Mara Triangle in search of more pasture. Practically throughout the year, these rolling grasslands of Masai Mara are teeming with wildlife activity.

Here, you stand a chance of seeing all the Big Five besides a variety of other wildlife. Return to your camp at sunset. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

After breakfast in the Mara, depart with your luggage, again driving through the Great Rift Valley to your next destination, Lake Elementaita Sentrim Lodge, lunch & check-in followed by a short drive to Lake Nakuru National Park where you will have an afternoon game viewing drive before returning to your lodge for dinner & overnight.

Lake Nakuru National Park: is one of Kenya’s most famous wildlife sanctuaries with a thriving rhino population and a paradise for ornithologists with pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers and a host of numerous other birdlife. It is also home to the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffe.

After breakfast at Lake Elementaita, drive into Nairobi City for lunch, then drive south-east of Nairobi through the semi-arid landscapes arriving at your next camp located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Dinner & overnight at Sentrim Camp Amboseli.

Amboseli National Park: is found in Loitoktok District in southern Kenya, near the Tanzania border. It is one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations covering 392 km² (151 sq mi), world-famous for its large elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. It offers a unique blend of wildlife, landscapes, and cultural experiences that make it a must-visit for travelers. It is cited by UNESCO as a Biosphere, the perfect co-existence of man & nature! Amboseli, being a semi-arid scrubland, is survived by two unique and natural swamps with floating vegetation. These swamps get their water through underground rivers coming in from the nearby Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is this floating vegetation that attracts numerous elephant families that make their way from the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro every morning to spend the day foraging through these swamps until late afternoon when they make their way back to the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli is nicknamed the “Home of the African Elephant” for its exceptionally large herds; visitors often see dozens of elephants at once. It is one of the best places in Africa for close-up elephant photography as well as a key site for elephant research, contributing to global understanding of elephant behavior and conservation. Additionally, Amboseli has over 400 bird species thriving in its swamps and wetlands, besides numerous other animal species.

After breakfast in Amboseli National Park, drive through the rugged volcanic landscapes of Chyulu Hills and the amazing Shetani Lava flow as you come to your next lodge in time for lunch and check-in. Afternoon game viewing drive that will include a visit to Mzima Springs. Dinner & overnight at Kilaguni Serena Lodge.

Tsavo West National Park: Combined with Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo is Kenya’s largest game park measuring an estimated 22,812km². Besides the “red” elephants found here, there are other unique attractions among which is the Mzima Springs, an amazing spring that produces an estimated 258,000 litres of fresh spring water per minute! This water then forms a huge pool of crystal-clear water which is home to numerous hippos, Nile crocodile and bass & barbel fish, all which can be clearly viewed from an inbuilt underwater glass tank.

Across from Tsavo West National Park is Tsavo East National Park, famous for its dust-red elephants, the Galana River with its Lugard Falls (which is a series of rapids), and the 300km-long Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow. Tsavo East spans 13,747km² and offers some of the most iconic safari experiences in East Africa.

After breakfast in Tsavo West National Park, drive to Tsavo East National Park, arriving at your next lodge in time for lunch & check-in. Afternoon game viewing activities, returning to your lodge for dinner & overnight.

After breakfast in Tsavo East National Park, you will be driven to the train station outside the Tsavo where you will take a 4 hours 30 minutes train ride to Nairobi where you have day rooms reserved at Hilton Garden Inn before being transferred to JKIA for your homebound flight.
